Banks Six Gun & Speed Loader

Just bought my first diesel powered truck 03' 2500 quad cab 4X4 auto trans, and it already has the Banks Six Gun & Speed Loader. No exhaust or air intake upgrades yet (not even gages). Do any of you have the Banks set up on your trucks? Have you had problems or know of any problems with this set-up (wearing out injectors, etc.)?
Thought about removing the muffler for starters (low on funds at present) and installing a K&N or similar filter. What would be suggested there to gain power & economy? Thanks...

Don't use a K&N.Use a AFE drop in.GET GAUGES.EGT and BOOST.Try a straight through muffler like a Donaldson .Some others will chime in now.

Banks problems

You may want to PM driverno8 for Banks problems. He can fill you in. Some others swear by it. If your running any box then you need gauges. If you keep the Banks you may want to get their setup. Personally, I would at the very least pull it off your truck and send it to Banks and have them verify it is working properly before you run it. Then you would have validation if something went wrong.

Please do not waste your money on overpriced aftermarket air intakes, simply remove the intake muffler (black plastic tube between the 2 rubber elbows) & replace it with a straight pipe. You can also use a hole saw to open up the factory air box in the bottom. These 2 things will provide as much air as those $200-$300 aftermarkets for less than $10. As for exhaust, , I straight piped mine, may be too loud for some, I have heard good things about Donaldson Mufflers. hope this helps.

We have this system on the 04 in our shop. It has been trouble free so far. I would recommend you get at least a pyrometer in the truck and a trans temp gauge for starters. Then a good 4" exhaust like the Banks or Aeroturbine kit and a good air intake such as a Scotty RA3. Then enjoy the truck.

Banks Six Gun & Speed Loader

I'm running the Banks Monster Exhaust, Ram Air Intake, Six-Gun, Speedloader and Turbo Wastegate. I also run gauges for EGT and Boost. Mine's a manual so there's no need for Transmission Temp. I love the Banks system; my 5th-wheel Toyhauler gets a wee bit heavy and the truck pulls wonderfully.

I contacted Banks and ran through the process of checking the LED indicators on the Banks box and everything is good with no faults locked in the system. Looks good to go. Is there a need to send it back to them from here? They also e-mailed me a copy of the owners & installation manual.

No problems with mine yet! Just look at led if green is lit all the time chip is working fine if you get any flashing red then chip will shut down.
Any of my friends talk chip I tell them air improvements first.
Chip not too bad not the fastest and not the slowest either.

Good Luck!
