Red,
I've already cut Moogs apart and posted the results. I have also been assured by Dynatrac that their joints are true spherical joints.
Just because Dynatracs cost $599. doesn't mean they are making a killing on them. The best materials, rebuildable design (which means additional machining), and precision machining of the ball and socket all adds up to cost. Plus they are a small company compared to Moog.
Why is everyone so freaked out about spending $600. to fix a problem once and for all (hopefully)? Especially when we can easily spend that and a lot more on stuff that is not really needed. I think it's time to think more about inner goodness items like strength, handling, and safety. We all need to fix the front ends on these beasts so we can lug that Cummins around.

Man my truck must one of the Dodge wonders.. I'm still on my original ball joints at 155,000 miles and still zero play.
Check the up and down movement the next time you have the front end jacked up. Depending on the balljoints, some can wear and allow little to no lateral movement but a whole bunch of longitudinal play.

I took the truck in to the dealer for a reflash of the ECM due to a charging issue.......they tell me my ball joints are trashed.......I'm surprised as I just installed the free spin kit and have had my truck elevated and I have checked the ball joints......I notice a bit of a rough ride on the way home.......thy have inflated my front tires to 95 PSI........they want $2000.00 to replace the ball joints........coincidence?
I'll replace them with Dynatracs when the time comes. I'll do it myself. They charged me $18.00 to replace the 3rd brake light bulb. They wanted $387.00 to replace one ABS sensor.......I can buy them both for about $67.00
I hate shops that over charge.
If they want $2,000 they should be putting on all new tires to, and expensive ones, plus an oil change, and transmission service, diff service, transfer case service, and the new ball joints, thats clower to being worth $2,000.
