Exclamation ATTN: All DiProcol pyro owners, interesting info:

Well, I had bought all DiProcol gauges, because they matched the dash, but I figured I might as well go to a "comp" pyro setup, and sprung for the autometer competition pyro and gauge. It seems the diprocol reads 200! degrees lower WOT, probably because it was such a slow-responding pyro. The hottest my truck would get WOT from 0-110 was 1,400 with the DiProcol, and with the autometer, I'm pegging 1,600 by the end of 3rd gear. DEFINETLY A BIT HOTTER. I suggest anyone who's modded and putting down some fuel to change to a fast-responding pyro. The AutoMeter is the only one I know of (140 retail I think on the "competition" pyro probe) + gauge. If there are any others out there, I'm not sure. But I can definetly tell you, I'm glad I made the switch. The new gauge literally follows your foot, as fast as you can ramp down that go-pedal, the pyro is right along with you. Even rev'ing in neutral, you can see it move with your foot.

How do you know your auto meter isn't 200 hotter?

DiPricol may read slower but I doubt it would be 200 off.

You may want to get one more pyro gauge now and see who is telling thr truth.

Well, personally I'd like to think I'm not running that hot, but then again I have over 550whp worth of fuel through the stock turbo, soooooooooooooo I don't really think I'm hitting 1,400 by 110. So that's how I know the AutoMeter isn't lying

My TST pyro and my Diprocal pyro read almost the same...TST reacting slightley quicker than than the Diprocal...but the Diprocal is in a hottor spot.

I don't think the time difference it takes to measure will have an adverse effect... especially if you never let your gauge GET THAT HOT!

John...you need a turbo bad.

My pricol reads just as fast as I can press or release the pedal. It reads almost to the degree with my boss's x-monitor that he is running. Mine looks just like a tach as I get on it and when I come off the pedal so not sure what you are saying by reading slow.

Pricol has a skinny probe that reacts a lot faster than the standard fat probe. It definitely makes a difference in how fast the temps react when you get on it.

I don't know what probe you guys got, but mine was sheathed in metal top to bottom with a skinny, dare I say, nipple at the bottom. The Autometer actually has the temp probe, maybe 1.5mm accross sticking OUT of the body of the probe itself.

I think what would really be the most usefull info would be a sensor on the manifold or turbo that actually measured the "heat soak". How hot are your parts really getting not just the gasses that pass thru.

Hmmm, I am going to have to pay close attention to my two pyros. One Autometer Ultra-Lite and the Edge Juice/Attitude pyro. I have only paid cursery attention to the numbers, but I think they are pretty close to the same, the digital display usually is a little behind the Autometer, but that is just digital coding lag.

Both sensors are in the manifold pre-turbo about an 1 1/2 inch apart.

Do you have the "competition" probe, or the stock autometer probe? I bought the gauge, tossed the stock pyro into the junk box, and then bought a 130 dollar PROBE for the autometer.
