I have the Juice w/Attitude and I have to send it to Edge to be reprogrammed because the truck started hiccuping and the check engine light came on. I removed the Juice and the CEL went away and has not come back on. The customer rep told me to send it in and have it checked for problems. So my question is, since the box will already be at Edge is the hot upgrade worth the $$$? I tow a trailer regularly and keep it in levels 1 and 2 pretty regularly and only in level 3 on occasion and, hardly, if ever have it up in the the higher levels.

The power difference between your current level 5 and the HOT is huge!

 

Is there any noticeable difference in the lower levels?

 

While it is there, I would get the turbo timer upgrade as well. The HOT helps all over, top to bottom. When you get the turbo timer it also gives you 6 settings so you dont loose setting 1 (20hp) on the Juice.

Edit:I didnt read your question correctly. The hot setting without the turbo timer will do away with your 20 hp tune and #1 will be 40hp. If you get the timer you will maintain #1 setting as 20hp.

 

I agree 100% with Omaharam and Matego, the Hot upgrade is worth the $, the upgrade is huge, yet you will find higher egt's with the added power and you might have to mod to lower them. I love the turbo timer option, get that at least, it's great to turn your truck off and have it cool down by itself.

I've been looking on Edge's web site and see no mention of the turbo timer update. Do I just indicate that I want the tt update on the hot unlock form?

you can get it. i sent my box in for turbo timer and hot unlock (#6 setting). My truck is a 2004.5

 

The truck already runs a little warm when running up hill with the trailer. I don't do any racing I just want a little more hp for towing my horse trailer. What kind of mods do I need to run to cool it down? I really don't want to have to add anything serious.

 

I Also Have The Edge And Wont Even Get The Hot Unlock, Because I Know My Egt's Would Go Through The Roof, Ive Heard It Hear On This Site. And I Dont Wanna Take The Chance,im Getting The Smarty, Its Has More Power In The Right Spots, And Its The Best, Couple Buddys Have Them, One Ive Been In The Truck, And Im A Witness Of Its Power. Not Putting Down Edge At All, I Like The Unit, Bob From Madds Told Me That There 4;11 Program For Example Would Run My Egt;s 300 Deg. Lower Then The Edge.

 

Mine runs almost exactly 200 degrees cooler with Smarty than with Juice.

 

So is it really worth paying the $$ to get the hot upgrade just to spend more $$$ to be able to use it? I've also heard that the attitude reads cooler than the truck is actually running, is this right?

 

The latest attitude version shows 50-100 degrees cool. The older versions were more like 300 degrees off.

 

It all depends on your long term goals, if you plan on always upgrading the performance of your truck then I would say yes and get the Hot upgrade, but if you're trying to keep your mods mild I would say stick with what you have. If your looking for a little extra power, there are other upgrades that don't raise your egt's. An intake manifold will give you a little extra HP and torque down low where you need it when towing, cost around $250-300 depending on brand. As for mods to cool you down, yes they are expensive, turbos, intercoolers, they all cool you down but make your wallet quite hot. I do still suggest you get the turbo timer since your unit is already there, just call Edge and tell one of the techs that you want it, I think it's $75, great upgrade for someone who tows.

 

I'm going to go with the turbo timer update but I think I'm going to have to pass on the Hot unlock and put that money towards an exhaust brake
