Another EDGE box question from a newbie
Have the 03 HO. Want to install the EDGE box and noticed on their website is says "gauges recommended."
My question is this...Do I need to go to the added expense of gauges if I'll only be hauling a 10,000 lbs camper? Can't imagine temps getting too high.
Thoughts please.

When you install the Edge you will become your own warranty station. You really want to make sure you don't fry your engine. So, to save yourself money in the long run, get an EGT gauge and mount it pre-turbo.
You's wants to play you's be prepared to pay...get the gauges as its better then running blind and guessing.
A scenario...you are climbing a grade and theres an intercooler hose leak, how would you know that without gauges? Probably would not at least for awhile.
With gauges you would see high EGT and low boost.
Play safe.
Cheaper then that added expense of towing, down time and/or dealer issues.

Oh Yeah. If you can't afford the gauges, you can't afford to run the EZ. I'm running an EZ. I realize that my truck is second gen, but I can recall several times climbing the long grades with my fiver (about 11K pounds) and having to back off to lower the EGT. Talk to Haulin' In Dixie about what high temps can do.

A fuel pressure gauge is a MUST with the 2nd gens....
when lift pump dies, the injection pump is soon to follow.
