Question Long term edge box (70 Hp) box use

I am thinking about buying the edge box (70 HP) or the bully dog power pup down loader next week.I have a few questions ?What are the long term affects of uesing (HP) upgraded boxes? How long have some of you folks been running your Edge or bully dog products?Had any major problems?I also understand that I will be my own warrenty station once I install one.I am planning on owning my truck for a long time, trying to do some long term planning. Thanks for any info.coobie

I've had my EZ on my truck for 40,000+ miles now, level 4 the whole entire time. Since it had 4,500 miles on it.....

I think if you tow a lot you'll probably end up wearing things out faster (but a noticable amount? Who knows?). I'd be more worried about the tranny/clutch longevity than the engine.

I've had an EZ ever since being a alfa tester for them last July ('04.5 600). I don't go around mashing the pedal all the time so the extra power will not effect much. Really for me it's about the fuel savings and the better, more responsive pedal feel. I'd say the motor can take an extra 70hp all day long , but the other parts may suffer some.

I've had my Edge EZ on the truck about 5 months now with no problems. Even took it off
to have DC check out my knocking injectors and no problems.
I keep my on level 2 and only twice on level 4 so far. Have not towed with it yet. I'll try level
1 only and see what happens.

wish you wouldnt be such a jackass but you really are. 26mpg unloaded is not hard at 65mph with a 555HO. with a 600 the most i can get is 22 at 65mph with no wind at all.

yes, he does pull 15,000 with no gauges and an edge on level 4. he doesnt let the truck cool down at all when he stops. hes about to hit 100,000 miles with the only problem being some loose part under the truck that was tightened and fixed. no other problems to speak of.

I already offered you a ride in both trucks, triplenickel/***** casten

It sounds like you are believing your overhead computer. Saying 26mpg unloaded is not hard is ridiculous, it's not even attainable at 65mph, even if it is a 555 with 2wd and a 6spd. That's hilarious.

I'm impressed by the Cummins durability as far as towing 15k on EZ level 4 with no gauges. I'm not impressed with the negligence your stepfather has shown his truck.

Not trying to be a jackA$$ as you so eloquently put it. But I will have to agree with everybody else on this subject. I can’t even think about getting over 18 MPG on the freeway (hand calculated). My 03 wouldn’t get over 20 MPG unloaded with a 6 sp. I think 26-28 MPG is, as lightman says, unattainable. If it is, I think you are the only one that is “really” getting that much and you need to call Chrysler and thank them. You got a good one.

Oh yeah… your step dad needs gauges. It is foolish to run without them. Even if he has had no trouble in the past. It will catch up with him.

This is just my opinion though

Britt

15,000 miles on level 4, level 3 towing 7500-8000lbs. No problems. Dropped my mileage slightly. Average 14-16mpg unloaded, mixed city/hwy.

The difference in power is amazing, particlularly low end/off the line. Best bang for the buck.

Pyrometer is a must.

Put it on level 4 and forget about it. As for gauges, if you are not towing anything I wouldn't worry about it to much. On my truck I can't get over 950' empty. I have an AFE and 4' exhaust, SO CTD. I read so many posts about guages being a MUST if you have mods, but a fueling box on a truck that is not towing anything isn't going to get to critical levels. I suppose if you have if floored all day long up some serious hills, you might have some probs, but other wise I wouldn't worry about it....I do have the SO CTD, so my EGT's might be a little lower but not that much.
