Aftermarket stereo question
Aftermarket stereo question, HELP !!!!!
I pulled out my stock deck, and put in a Pioneer avic n1 from my old truck. It worked fine then when I turned my truck off and turned it back on it again there was no sound. I messed around checking the power and everything for like an hour and still nothing. So I put my factory deck back in and there was sound again. Any suggestions?
No...when this happened to my dad (it was a JVC) the deck was completely dead. It had to be taken apart and the fuse replaced. Not saying that is the problem. just something you should look at.
there is still power and everything but no sound. I'm gonna try to hook it up tommorow, and run a wire from one of the outputs to a spare speaker I have to see if it works.
I checked all the connections off of the deck with a multimeter and they all had power. So I guess it would be kinda useless to hook up a different speaker to it and see if it works.

Okay here is what I came up with so far. If I put the stock deck in and turn on the vehicle it works. Take the stock deck out without turning off the vehicle and install the aftermarket deck, it works. So from that I take it the factory deck turns the amp on but my aftermarket one wont. The only wire not used is a white and purple one thats for the PCI bus. So I'm guessing when you turn the stock deck on it turns the amp on thru the pci bus. I tried to put power to that wire but it all kinds of lights went on, on my dash.
So what I'm trying to figure out and asking, is there anyway I can splice into a remote wire for that factory amp to turn it on? Or do I have to rewire all the speakers. I'm just a lil strapped for cash right now cause I just bought a new house else I would go aftermarket amp and speakers.

Hey "PG" , I think I saw on here a few months ago, saying if you have a Ram with a factory amp, and you put in an aftermarket radio, that you can't use the factory amp, and if I'm right, you might have to re-wire the speakers. Dont take my word 100%, but If I were you, try doing a search for radio or amp subjects on this site, you might find some better info.
I'm actually surprised that no one has really answered your questions yet??
Maybe you should start a new thread asking about fuel milage or tire size or something, and add in there a quick question about your radio, youll prob. get more veiws and more responses!!

Crutchfield sez you must run new wires to the speakers to bypass factory amp. Contact them for more info. Good Luck!
BTW, I can't believe I can't find an aftermarket direct wire aux input adapter for my factory RBQ radio!!! How can that be???
