Aftermarket Injector timing

So when you install injectors (90's 0r more) you wouls typically like to run more timing, correct?

No, with larger injectors you typically need to retard the timing, not advance it with your electronics. All depends on how big of injectors you have, what electronics and combo you run, and how much rattle you get. Trial and error. Jay

^^^^ With larger-than-stock injectors, more fuel is injected for a given duration. This equates to advancing the timing. To compensate, you should usually retard slightly.

Also, running higher rail pressure will tend to advance timing as well.

Thanks guys, I was thinking it was the other way around. So I went and adjusted to timing 4 on the smarty and took it for a ride and I can definatley tell a difference in performance. Turbos spool quicker and top end seems stronger. Also the idle is smoother and the slight rattle I had is gone. I am liking this better than the timing 3. Temps seem to be the same. What you guys are saying made sence to me now I think about it. Bigger inj, more timing is created, add meth then even more timing is created on top of the smarty adding timing too. So its no wonder timing 4 runs better. More drive time to come tonight.

see , proof that what works on one truck doesnt allwas on another.
i decided to try 4 lastnight / today
what i saw was yes it was a little quieter, but egts were up, couldnt realy spool any quicker, infact over all it was less responsive. i did notice @ 70mph/2000rpm my rail presure was higher and so was boost, it took a second to realise , i had to push the throttle a little further to get the same results and thats why my rail presure went up. im normaly only at 7-10k@2000/70
im tempted to start running tnt v. 5d again so i can get my cruise rail presure back up to 12-15k

No... TNT timing #'s are different than Revo #'s. On Revo, timing #4 is the most timing for mileage. On TNT #4 is least timing for running nitrous or meth... or really big injectors.

I have found the same to be true on mine. Tim #3 runs stronger w/ higher and quicker spooling boost than #4 Timing.

Well after 3 tanks of gas for TM3 and TM4 with the same driving distance and manners (duck club trips) I can say i am getting 1.8 mpg (hand calculated) more with TM4 than I was getting with TM3. Also I am seeing the same egts. As for turbo spool and power, I think TM3 may have a slight advantage over TM4, but the dyno will tell the truth. Hope to dyno both TM settings with in a month. I will let you guys know

When they mean stock timing on the tnt it #1 on the timing section it cummins stock timing or is it smarty stock setting. It seems like #1 has more rattle then #2 timing.

TNT timing 1 is the most timing, with 2 slightly less.

That would explain for all that rattling.
