AFE air intake question
I currently have the afe drop in air filter along with the torque tube. I was looking into getting the afe stage 2 intake. How much better is it than what I have? Is this the best intake out there? I am just wondering before I order it because it is not cheap. Thanks very much in advance.

I had an AFE stage II, and it was much better than the stage I.
I would say it will be a huge improvement, in both performance and sound...
Just be sure to get the PG7 filter. It flows well and your oil sample reports will come out looking great!

I too have the Stage 2 and agree it is awesome! I have the ProDry filter though. No oiling necessary, just vaccuum out or blow air from the center out and replace---love it.

I have a question when it rains mine seems to get wet. Also in a couple snow storms it was packed with snow. Can this be fatal on my engine or not a big deal?

the afe stage two will luse you 10% efficiency because of the hot under hood air , i have three of them in our junk pile go to tdr,s website and order issue 56 and 59 before doing anything.

Granted, you're pulling hot air, but you can't feed a 66mm turbo with a stock air box...

Well I ordered the quadzilla monster air intake from the DTR store today. It has the pro guard filter on it also, and u cant beat the price. I am expecting it to work just as good as the afe stage 2 but for a lot less money!

My egts were better with the AFE than the stock box. I've had my Afe for over 3 yrs now, even the same oiled filter. I'm very satisfied with it, but in all actuality, if you are looking to save some money and get a good setup, do a search for the *****'s Whistler intake. Its a do-it-yourself that will save you quite abit, and many ppl are satisfied with them.

I would agree with Carls advioce and see if you can get your hands on TDR 56 and 59. They did a very good job of testing several air filters, filter housings and down tubes.
Stock housing(with PSM cold air kit) with AFE-pg7 drop in and Cool tube(silicone downtube) produced the best results for provide plenty of cool, clean air to the turbo.
Outside air temp, intake air temp, exhaust temp were all monitored.
Dyno tests showing all of them on a graph. Convinced me..and was good reading.
