I have the 4040L and like it! I took the CAT and muffler out and replaced with just the Aero-Turbine behind the cross member, it would not fit where the cat was originally. It maybe too loud for some people but I get alot of comments on how it sounds (thats why I got the resonator version). Reduced EGT's 100 -150 degrees. I know my truck breaths better now. Saving my pennies to upgrade Super B to a HTB2.

And here's another sound clip from Diesel Power Products Scroll all the way to the bottom.
I ordered one from them and should be getting it next week and hopefully be able to install it on Saturday...I will post back the results.

I have the 4040L installed to the end of the converter. I had a 5" tip on the stock tailpipe and it was a little loud, I now have a SS turn down and much quieter.
When not towing it is not loud at all, when I tow 9000 to 12000 lb. trailer it ls acceptable.
The sound is great. I took my uncle for a ride, he has a hemi, and he was impressed with the power and sound, much like a gasser( the sound that is).

I just had my Aeroturbine 4040L installed Tuesday!!
Quiet while idling, no drone at speed, barks only when on the pedal, so far went from 18.5 mpg to 20.
Nuff said!!!

We have the Aeroturbine muffler on the 04 in the shop. What you notice right away about the sound is you can hear the engine sound at idle rather than just the air hiss of the stock system. Driving it is a bigger deeper sound in the cab sounds pretty good. The 4040 is a little louder than the 4040L because the 4040L has a 6" long resonator built into the inlet. We do have a few sound clips on our site which may help to give you some idea of the sound outside the truck.

I have the regular 4040 on my '04 and I love the way it sounds. I do feel sorry when I'm in stop and go traffic and the poor person sitting on my rear flank is getting a breath of fresh hot diesel air!
What people have told me "your truck sounds like a tank", and "wow!"
I took out the cat and put the 4040 as far forward as I could, then put a piece of 4" exhaust tubing to connect to the stock tubing. I don't have any drone, but I did notice that I don't drive with my music on just so I can hear my truck better.
Hope this helps,
James
