Ok since my truck was brand new for some reason when i first turn the AC on it makes a loud sqeal. It only does it the first time i trun it on. It sounds like it is locked up and has to break itself loose. Does anyone else have this and is this a problem. thanks.

 

Yep, mine does the same since new. Only on the first start and only when the outside are temp is warmer. Won't do it if I use the defroster on a cool morning. I remember reading somewhere that it had to do with the compressor being mounted low in the system and freon builds some resistance after sitting. I've found I can reduce it by shutting the A/C off before I kill the engine and then let it run a couple of minutes before I turn on the A/C.

 

Does anyone know what a loud clunking noise is when the AC is turned on. Definitely coming from the engine compartment and sounds like the clutch or something on the compressor. Doesn't do this all the time, but like when on the FWY and hit the AC button, I will hear some loud clumk when it is first turned on.
