? About 07 5.9 and tuners..
Hi all....
I just picked up my new 2007 3500 4X4 mega with 5.9 auto..
What tuners...Programers etc...will work with my truck..
I have noticed that most of the vendors websites dont show anything for the 07 5.9...
Is there any difference in the 06...07 computers..?
I dont wont anything radical...I am scared to death about destroying the stock tranny..
My buddy has the BD downloader on his 06 and is happy with it...Will it work on a 07..?

I think computers changed in June, 06. I think there is quite afew different tuners that will work for your needs. The hard part is keeping the tuner on a low HP setting. I have a Superchips and Diablo. For mild power, the superchips is great. If you want to keep your warranty, I think the Smarty isthe only one that does not erase the key counts.

I think most tuners work; Edge, Bullydog, Smarty, Quadzilla, TS, etc. The two that I know dont work are TST and Van Aaken C5. Off the top of my head I cant think of anything else that doesnt work...

if your worried about tranny stick with a mild towing box because its so hard not to want to turn up a programmer once its in your truck very addicting and when you turn it up just to try it out you will not want to go back just my experience with mine

I have the Edge/Attitude and am very impressed with it. It has some very nice safety features you can set to your preference. Although it can be awfully hard to keep your foot out of it. The increase in hp and torque you can achieve is amazing.

Thanks everyone....Since I last looked at the Bullydog site I noticed they have included the 07...
I would realy like more low end power vs peak hp....
I do believe I have the strength not get too crazy with the settings..
So for more low end power would a pressure box be more appropriate..?
Would a smarty on level 3 be safe without guages..?

One thing I tell customers if not towing, just want it for milage. It is common sense. You hammer down on a high setting your egts will get hot you let off they will cool down no need for guages if just for milage and you do not tow anything heavy.

I would get a smarty. I laid down 436hp and 983tq today with just the smarty on my 07. That is with a stock clutch and the aftermarket turbo/stock injector with wild torque management program. I was running 35 inch tires also, prolly could of had higher numbers with smaller tires.

Don't see anyone mention it here but the Quad XZT towing box seems to be a very good poroduct and can be ordered by itself or with the optional Recon gauge set to make a great package. Had ot on my 04.5 and really liked it, most low and middle range power and "maybe" 1 1/2 mpg better if you can keep you foot out of it. Remember like all tuners/boxes they can void your warranty so ease of removal is of utmost importance also. The Quad is also not supposed to leave any traces after removal. Think that the Smarty also is not supposed to leave any traces but it is a downloader so have read of a few problems with downloaders in general, not specific to the Smarty system. That is why I perfer chips over downloaders but that is a personal preferance not necessarly the right one.

The Diablo Predator I just got is supposed to work on 06-07 trucks. Haven't put many miles on with it yet but so far i like it. Price is right too! 300 bucks - free shipping.
