Is 6" tip 18" long to big for our trucks?

Guys I'm looking at putting on a 18" long tip to replace my 12" long 5" tip I have now. The reason I want to go 18" is to cover up some rust on the tailpipe.
I would like to go 6" but will that look dumb ? I've read guys saying it looks stupid going from 4 to 6 but since the tip is 18" long not the standard 12" you won't really see the end where the tip goes over the 4" exhaust pipe.
Am I right here or will it still look dumb?
Anyone got pics ?
I was looking at the RBP tip in polished stainless

That's a personal opinion thing. I think it would look "dumb". I'd just go with a 6" tailpipe and a 6" tip. Now that would look "good".

I used to run one and I thought it looked pretty good. It definitely makes the truck sound better depending on how you mount it. I don't have any pics of it though...

i had one on my truck it looked pretty good because the length does kinda hide the 4", but then i got a rippin deal on 5" so now the 6" tip looks more proportionate

I've been thinking of doing this same Mod, if you go the 4 to 6" route take some pics so we can all see. If I do this I may cut back my tail pipe a few inches so it changes the angle and tucks it up under the truck more. I have heard the sound of the 6" is a nice throaty grumble.

When I had my 4" I ran a 5"x22" long tip and I think it looks good. Now that I have 5" I'm not running a tip.

I have a 6X18 on my truck but it's on a 5" pipe. I think it looks good.

Before I changed my exhaust to 5" I had a Hog Performance 4x6 18" long tip on my exhaust - it sounded GREAT and looked GOOD too. In fact, it is going to be showing up in the classifieds here real soon since I no longer have the 4" exhaust system. I plan to put a 6"dia long tip on my new 5" system.
