to tip or not to tip?

Are you supposed to tip the pizza delivery person? My wife thinks they get their compensation from the company. I always get to be the guy that asks for all my change at the door. Just curious what everyone thinks about the sebject,

I say give em a buck or two, I don't know how they make their money, but I do know that Dominos charges a delivery fee of $1.50 I think, so I'm sure they probably get a portion of that. I figure they're working for $5 an hour, they deserve an extra buck or two just for the hey of it.

We usually give 'em $2.
If I am too lazy to go out in the cold/wet/rain whatever, the least I can do is give them a little tip. I would bet they aren't making much from the parent company.

My feeling is: At the end of the day, am I really going to notice my wallet is $2 lighter anyways. Not saying money doesn't matter to me, but there are others who can use $2 alot more than I can.

Toss 'em a couple bucks. His compensation from the company probly ain't great and he has to pay to maintain his POV.

A three hour delivery time can effect this though.....

Yep, Especilally with gas sky high.
They're basically the same as a waiter in a restaraunt.

What they get from the company doesn't cut it, tipping is customary. Some folks do the buck or two while others do more. I know folks who drive and they really appreciate the tips, especially the heavy tippers. As a matter of fact, those folks with a history of tipping well do get priority service from the drivers.

Yes, tip them... like said above, compensation is poor at best. The "delivery charge" is often not passed to the driver.

Pizza is a low margin business... meaning the company is not making a lot and there is not a lot to pass on to the driver.

When dairy goes up... cheese is dairy... dairy drove up mostly by the cost of fuel. Paper went way up due to pulp shortages; that cardboard box it is delivered in went way up too... meat increases and etc...

Tip the poor driver. Face it, if he had a bunch of money to begin with, he would not be delivering pizzas.

It costs me almost $5 in fuel alone to drive to town and back, so I would be more than willing to tip a pizza delivery person a few bucks, if I could get any of them to come out this far.

But I can't 'cause they won't, so it's not delivery. It's Digiorno. Literally.

IMHO, It doesnt matter if its pizza delivery or some other delievery service, Ill tip the driver the same as if I was in the restaurant.
They have to make a living too and was posted earlier, if they had a ton of money, they wouldnt be doing the delievery anyway.

I'll give the delivery person a tip but I won't tip at the counter if I'm picking it up myself. Where I live there is only one place that'll deliver to me and their pizza stinks. So I have to go get the Papa's or Dom's. Pizza Hut is too far away.

I usually give them $1 and any coins from the change. But in general I don't really tip anyone, other than a waiter/waitress. And if service sucks my tip will reflect that.

If I pick up I don't tip. And those tip jars at the counter of places like Starbucks don't get squat from me.
