6-8" DRW suspension lift?????
6-8" DRW suspension lift?????
after a ton a of research, i've finally decided on the bds 6" lift. but after going to their site, i found out that there current product will not work on a drw....BUMMER!! can anyone direct me to a very good quality 6-8" lift for my 2007 drw mega? i really want to stay away from kelderman stuff as much as possible, and i heard many stories of superlift springs sagging! why is this so much more difficult than my ford? and, i am waitng for thuren to put something together for me, but he has been really busy lately, and i dunno if i can hold out...although, i probably should!
on another note, i hear that 6" is the max without running into driveline vibration. if i do opt to go with the 8", what can be done to eliminate the drivleine vibrations? custom front driveshaft or lowering the x-fer case??? any insight on this issue?
for one of the most popular trucks, theere seems to be very few choices ins the suspension aftermarket!!
thanks, darren

Call Don Thuren, or e-mail him at www.thurenfabrication.com. He will build you whatever you want and get yoru front axle forward 1" making it easier to clear bigger tires. You won't regret it and you will pay a very fair price.
He is THE suspension guy.
hey wiggs,
yeah i've been in contact with him(thuren), but he says he has some new stuff he is testing that won't be available for awhile...i know i should probably wait, but if i can't, where can i turn to? ever heard of revtek?
there is not much aftermarket for the drw and i don't really understand why? the front is essentially the same and even if the rear has obvious differences, most lifts should be accomodated by a block as i wouldn't really want a larger stiffer spring pack in the back anyway..it's already bouncy enough! even a longer rear shackle might be nice! in reagrds to suspension stuff, ford was much more easier to cope with! dodge seems to have too many little quirks about it. pretty odd when you consider this is a heavy duty truck! you should be able to throw anyhthng at it and make it work!

I would wait for Thuren's stuff/ Nothing else will come close to being as good, or lasting as long or riding as nicely. The key to Thuren's setup is using the softest spring possible and the best quality shock. The end result is an Escalade-like ride and full articulation in your DRW!

that is probably the best advice regarding this matter

Darren,
If you really can’t wait have Don set you up with a set of springs, shocks, towers & rear leafs, track bar & steering use Superlift adjustable control arms, track bar drop bracket, a drop pitman & Defiant steering stabilizer. Then all you need is a custom swaybar and links. Check my gallery, my truck is about 6 ½” with 35’s.
Then when Don is done with his new stuff you can update to that.

Don't know much about lifting trucks, but I do know that the Ford suspension system is commonly referenced to as "ancient". Leaf springs in the front...and a few other things. Could be the reason your Ford was so much easier to lift.
even ford's newer coil setup has a bit more options than dodge....ancient or not it still performed well, when done correctly...the fact that the front drive keeps spinning at all times is ridiculous if you ask me..unnecessary wear!
