33 Cooper STT or 35 Cooper ST

A little help here fellas. I'd like to get some tires taller then stock, to make this G56 feel more like it has 3.55s then 4.10s. I had Mastercraft C/Ts on my last truck and loved them, so I want to stick with Cooper brand tires. My dilemma is, I can get 33 inch Cooper STTs for about the same price as I can 35 inch Cooper STs. I'm mostly on the highway, so I'm thinking taller and less aggressive. I'm also leveling it and installing Bilstein 5100s. Would 35s bulge too much with stock wheels? I know some say they rub a bit. I've got an Attitude/juice, so I'm not too worried about power being robbed. Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks,
Nick

Nick,
You also need to be aware of load capacity on the tires. The 33 x 12.50 R 17 inch Cooper, S/T or STT only has a 2600 lb. max load capacity. That is considerably less than your stock tires. Not sure if the 35 inch will fit, but at least it has a 3000 lb. capacity.

should of saw that. Ok, I'd have to get the 285/70/17 with load capacity of 3195.

Thanks,
Nick

Any one else, 33s or 35s for the G56?

Just wanted to emphasize the tire rating....factory tires are E rated. i now have 285/17's Goodyear Wrangler MTR's load range D and popped one in 3000 miles. i strongly recommend staying with a load range E tire.

265 70 17 are almost 33 inches tall. Cooper S/T 35 inchers are load range D with 3000 pounds capacity. I have S/T's in 265 and they are wearing like iron... and are very aggressive a/t tread. STT are virtually an offroad tire. Mine are medium loud. STT's are loud. If I don't roll my windows down the tires are almost as loud as my muffler and that is an accomplishment. ks

I had 35's on my stock rims for several months. They rubbed my controll arms @ full lock but not too bad.I have no box yet so my power fell off so I went back to 285's.

Well I ordered the 35s, so we'll see how they work.

Thanks,

Good Luck. If they do rub the control arms ....just rig some bump stops so that your steering doesn't quite go full turn... Steering these trucks at full turn is not good for the front end....too much torque at too big of an angle. ks
