2nd gear clutch squawk on take off....

Ok, I put in a southbend dual disc 3250 in my truck about 5 months ago and now when i take off in 2nd gear unloaded of course the clutch will make a dry squawk or squeek. If I engage slower it won't do it, if I engage for take off a little too quickly in traffic it will really do it. I've never done anything retarded to this clutch like 3rd gear launches or anything, havent raced or sled pulled etc. I know these clutches like to be work a little harded to keep them aggressive but it shouldn't squawk i wouldn't think. Any ideas as to why it's doing this?

Give South bend a call on Monday, my guess is he will tell you how to work it a little bit to get rid of that problem

Yep, Peter should be able to help you with that. Personally, I've never experienced anything like that, but my experience is with a 2nd gen on the 6 speed and SBDD.

Mine does it too. Was told by the dealler it was the nature of the beast. I think it is quite annoying though and would like a solution.

is it the actual clutch grabbing the flywheel or the clutch fork or something related to that.

If it is an iron clutch and not the feramic ceramic stuff it is normal to do it on takeoff and even shifting between gears or downshifting.

I have the same problem with my sbdd 3250. I called SB last week. He told me it sounded like the clutch was starting to glaze over. He said to try pulling out harder. So i went out on Saturday evening and laid a patch of rubber on the road. Sound went away. I figuired that was the easiest way to put the power to the clutch. So i quess he was right.
