1 piece drive shafts?

Whats your thoughts on this for a QC long bed thats above 500hp?I've noticed some guys on the engine and drivetrain forum switching to the 08 1 piece shaft as a cure for u-joint failure and driveline vibrations. Its a relatively inexpensive swap, just none of the members thats done it have bombed trucks. Will it hold or are our 2 piece the better route?

im planning on doing this as the 08 shaft has larger u-joints also, i plan on having a center shaft made of steel though instead of the aluminun-this would be the weak link IMO

I know that a manual quad cab long box has a larger u-joint in the rear shaft than an auto. The spicer number is 1480 joint. How much larger are the
u-joints?

The few post I read on the swap said the u-joints just changed over.Only thing different is the drive shaft. The slip yoke is not even replaced.I could be wrong.I'm gonna try to do some more reading on the other forum.

if you price one at the dealer it comes complete and is not bad on price. just that main piece is aluminum.

i did the swap to the new one piece aluminium and if the ujoints are bigger its by tenths of an inch. the center shaft is aluminium but it is also 4 to 5 inches in dia instead of the 2.5 inch steel.

as far as strength i can't imagine they would put a weaker unit in the new trucks, so if your old two piece held up to the abuse then it would stand to reason the new one would hold up as well. but if your old two piece failed then i would guess this one would too.

i have personally pulled a combined weight of 22k up a extremely steep grade 6 times since the switch with no issues at all. and i'm not easy on my truck, i USE all the power, i don't like fords passen me

the new driveline BOLTS right in. just remove all old brackets and driveline, then install new one piece yolk and all. done deal.

I think that stress from bending the hanger bearing braket would now move to the tail housing of the t-case!! Would that be the week point??

They made my one piece shaft and have been very happy with it. Definitely get a CV. Whole custom made shaft with 30* CV and Spicer u-joint was $350.

Most driveshaft shops won't make a one piece over 70".

as far as strength with an aluminum shaft, dmax trucks are aluminum and there are some high hp trucks still running stock shafts.

Is this for a mega cab, or just a long bed?
