All the 08 mega's and QC's have 1 piece now.
So there is mixxed opinions on aluminum, what about a custom made steel one?Is the length just too long to take the extreme torque of a heavily modded CR?

I got a one piece aluminum shaft from an 08 6.7 and 68rfe. I measured it and it is one inch shorter than my steel 2 piece. I assume the 68rfe trans is longer than my 47re. I also got the front shaft, I am going to measure it compared to mine 2day and see if it is 1" longer. Before I pull mine out does anyone know for sure the splines are the same for the 2 different transmissions? I measured the outside diameter of the yoke and they are the same.

I don't get you guys with the trashed 2 piece drive shafts...
I spank my truck all the time...and my carrier bearing is fine after 160k. I changed my Original U-Joints at 100k when I broke one lobe of the rear lower joint that I attribute it to being hot/dry.
Maybe it is a result of good traction bars?

How do you know when your u joints are going out? I dont feel any play in them, but i get a little pop in the front end every now and then while accelerating from a stop.

I'd really like to do this soon. Any of you guys that have done it have a part# for the 08 shaft? I have a quadcab lonngbed auto. I assume the inch shorter length isn't enough to matter? I have an add-a-leaf in the rear as well but I doubt that it makes enough difference?

But like said.....I'm not comfortable with a shorter shaft....meaning loosing 1 1/4" on the output of the Transfer Case out put shaft. I put the two piece back on.

I resurrected another thread on this subject and someone said the reveal on the shaft where it goes into the tail section is the same. A straight shaft with no bend I would think would not need to be as long as a two-piece that has a bend in it. The shortest distance between two points is a straight line kind of theory but i'm no expert. I have found enough positive experiences on the forums that I just finished ordering one. Hopefully I can add my own positive experience soon. I avoid my dealer if at all possible so I got one from dodgeparts.com was just under $500 with shipping. Will keep y'all posted. Thanks PowerWagon for the PN - that's the same one I found on the other thread so at least I know it should be right.
