I am looking into getting an 07 5.9HO 2500. Does this model have all the fuel pressure concerns that the previous 5.9 had? Is this injection pump more capable of handling a chip as opposed to the vp44? I am not that well educated on this newer fuel system and dont want any worries. Also is the 48re better than the 47re? Thanks

 

Yes to the tranny. The 48re was modified to handle more torque and power. However, hard driving and high HP can still kill it. The limit is about 100hp over stock for most cases. How you drive will be the difference.

No to the fuel pressure concern. The cp3 high pressure fuel injection pump is a quantum leap in improvement over the vp. That should not be a worry and can handle up to about 500hp (some have done more). It is a reliable unit.
