'03 SO w/EZ and no EGT?

Okay guys....UPS tells me my EZ is sitting at my front door as I type! The question is, should I wait to get my EGT gauge installed before plugging in the EZ?

I woulda had my EGT gauge installed if they (not mentioning any names) would have sent me an EGT gauge instead of a fuel pressure gauge! The wiring and sensor was for EGT and I installed all that this last weekend, but the actual gauge itself was wrong, so I had to send it back. I should be getting the correct gauge by Wednesday this week.

But for just driving back and forth to work unloaded, can I run the EZ w/o knowing my EGT's? And up to what level can I run it on?

I have your same set-up (only hooked up) and when I don't tow anything my egt's never get over 1000 even at wot. That is at level 3.

Mine's been on level 5 since I found out it was there. I have no guages yet. I ran level 4 for a year and a half. The only time you really need the EGT guage is if you are towing or maybe driving like a total maniac. I've even towed on level 4 with no apparent problems. BUT, my dual EGT/Boost guage should be here today or tomorrow..

No need to press my luck anymore.....

Yep, well I couldn't wait. I left work yesterday and installed it. WOW! I started with Level 1 (40 hp) and I could really tell a difference. So then I pulled back in the driveway and set it to Level 4 (70 hp), but I honestly couldn't tell a difference like I could going from stock to Level 1. Was I just expecting too much going from Level 1 to Level 4?
Now, I didn't install the little boost elbow, so maybe that's the reason I couldn't feel the power difference between 1 and 4? Should I install the boost elbow?

Right now, I have it running on Level 2, but might switch it back to 1 cause I can't tell that from Level 1!

From a one-day owner experience, I think this thing is great! As stock, the truck was always having to catch up to the go-pedal. Now, it's so much more responsive and seems to run smoother. I hit the go-pedal and it has to do very little catching up to the go-pedal.
I didn't buy this thing to hotrod around, just to achieve a little more hp/tq for getting on the highway, passing people and pulling light trailers. It's doing what I was hoping it would do and doing it quite well. It doesn't appear any codes were thrown and no check engine light came on. You couldn't even tell it was in there unless you pushed on the go-pedal.

So what's the little boost elbow for? The instructions say the box works equally well with or without it. Will I feel more gain at level 4 with the elbow?

Try level 5!! You will

::: X::

I put my boost elbow on as I heard it will reduce your EGTs. The turbo seems to spool up more too....

I have a CA SO...I keep my box on level 3 at all times and have no issues with high EGT's. This includes towing 7000lbs up steep grades. The boost elbow adds more air and will reduce your EGT's slightly...maybe 7-10%. You will notice more of a difference towing than running unloaded on levels 1 and 2. Level 3 gives me best overall performance.

Just unplug it if you're towing, because on lvl 3 w/ Ram Air and 4" I can hit 1400 on grades.

On grades? In Texas, our grades are bridges!

I'm thinking the HO creates hotter EGT's than the SO.

All sounds sweet! I'd still be interested in the rail pressure generated by the different power levels. I'm gonna try and install my boost elbow tonight. I looked at it last night and it looked almost impossible to get at. It looked easier to come up from the bottom rather than the top. How did everyone else install theirs? From the top or the bottom?

It's very easy. Just take off the air intake tubes. there are just two big hose clamps to loosen then unhook the air box plug and pull the whole thing out. The elbow is now easy to get at. I pryed the hose off the elbow w/ a screwdriver. It all went back on very easily.

You must have used a ladder or you're 7 foot tall to do that cause I have a hard time reaching anything in that engine compartment!
Thanks for the tip, I'll try it tonight!
