Who Makes the 6 Speed Tranny

Does anyone know who makes the 6 speed automatic tranny in the 2009 3500 w/Cummins?

I believe that the 6 speed is Chrysler's own design. From pretty much all accounts, it's been a smash hit right out of the box from the time it was introduced in the 07 model year. The 6 speed manual is manufactured by Aisin.

I guess I had it backwards then, because I owned an '08 and I thought the 6-speed auto was made by Aisin. I liked the auto tranny and the engine brake, but hated the check engine lights.

I thought the 68RFE was Mopar and the AS68RFE in the Cab & Chassis trucks was Aisin. (both auto's). Hopefully someone will step in and say for sure, I've heard just about every variation lol

if you have a 2500 or 3500(non Cab&Chassis) and it has an automatic transmission, it is a 68RFE and is an in-house transmission.

if you have a 3500, 4500 or 5500 Cab&Chassis and it has an automatic transmission, it is an AS68RC and is sourced from Aisin.

the manual transmission is the G56 and is a carryover from previous generations

What he said is correct, both automatic transmissions are very good. I have an 07 C&C that now has over 220,000 miles on it pulling a heavy 40' gooseneck with no problems at all. I know several people that hotshot with the pickup model and they have had no problems with the pickup transmission either.

68RFE made Orion industries, a Chrysler subsidiary.

AS68Rc is made by Aisin, (as previously stated). Aisin make all Toyota automatic trannies.

Aisin is the Jap answer to Allison.
