White smoke?

I have noticed on a few mornings when I start my truck there will be some white smoke and rough idle. This will last for maybe 15 or 20 seconds and then smooth out and no smoke. Any ideals what this might be?

The only few times mine has run ruff at start up is if I forget to let the grid heater run a full cycle when temps are below 20 degrees and its set for several days. Also on sub zero days I get a white exhaust smoke like a car does but its normal do to the cold temps. Anyway check to make sure your grid heater is working and to let it run its cycle before you start it up.

Ditto. When I'm in the cold stuff (0 - 30*) and it idles for just a few minutes, I take off in a huge cloud of steam. Scared me the first time I saw it, early morning with the sun just starting to rise, huge cloud behind me like I sucked an injector, running a little rough. Usually straightens out within a mile. Using the go pedal a little harder, after warmup, will straighten it out quicker.

Whats even scarier for me was the first time I saw the white looking (car exhaust) smoke do to the very cold temps after driving it for 20 miles, but then it was -24 below zero with out wind chill. I've also noticed it at warmer temps as high as -2 below zero but it doesn't last as nearly as long as it does at -20 below and colder.

You guys want to see smoke go to a truck stop on a cold morning when the truckers start their rigs.
I had a Ford L8000 dump with a 3208 Cat diesel ,on cold morning you couldn't see the lot for 20 minutes after I started it. That will make the tree-huggers cry!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

the only thing I've seen that might rival a cat 3208 with smoke on cold weather start up is a Mack Midliner (piece of crap med. duty built by Renault). Even on a warm day they put out a haze and smell horrible.
