What is a good inexpensive code reader?

What is a good inexpensive code reader for the 6.7l. I keep reading these threads about codes being thrown and I would like to be able to check mine. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you all,

shut er down & flip the key on/off 3 times & the code will be displayed in your mileage box by the speedo

I can't get mine to do it ALL the time for some reason, sometimes it only shows me dashed across the display, then a DONE

on the third one leave the key in the on position otherwise the code will dissappear when you turn key off.. flick it on & off pretty quick or it won't do it

^ Might be your problem. I always go on/off, on/off, on/off, on . Haven't had any troubles that way.

Yup, doesn't work on a few years of the second gens, but should work on all the 3rd gens.

I spent a few bucks and bought the Innova 3130. It not only reads and erases DTC's but accesses and captures "Live Data" while the engine is running and interfaces with your computer.

Live data includes fuel pressure, RPM, coolant temp, % load, VIN, O2 sensor, and a lot more info than I know what to do with.
