Vehicle Code P2563

My 2009 Dodge RAM 3500 6.7 Cummins is now throwing a General Motors code. Does anyone have any idea why this is happening?

My 2007.5 truck is doing the same thing intermittently. P2563 code means, "Turbocharger boost control position sensor circuit range/performance". I got this code two years ago and the dealer cleaned the turbo by injecting some sort of cleaning solution while the engine idled. That fixed the problem until now, two years later. So I think I'm due for another cleaning (dealer here in Albuquerque charges about $240).

Is your driving mostly stop & go? Are you running with the exhaust brake on all the time? That will help keep the turbo from "sticking" due to soot.

I recently priced a rebuilt turbo at the local Cummins repair facility. It would cost about $1700 plus about 2 hours labor (total about $2k). I suppose the dealer would be a lot higher!

PS: you might try taking the truck for a long ride which includes acceleration/deceleration with the EB on and see if that helps.

I took it down to the dealership and they looked at it and said the turbo needed cleaned. It failed the first two cleanings but passed the third one. If it had failed the third one they were going to order a new turbo for the truck.

If you do the deletes you will never see this code again, I had this same code twice in 08. After I deleted I have never been back to the dealer nor do I have an issue with the turbo any more.
I spent less money on my delete kit than what MR Ed paid for in rebuilding his turbo. Also the motor is cleaner now without all of the exhaust soot that is routed back into the motor with the EGR. The oil is changed every 7,500 miles now and this is a savings to the environment also. Since I am not wasting motor oil by doing 3,500 mile oil changes as required with the emission controlled system.

Mr Ed... the dealer would have replaced the turbo under warranty... it wouldn't have cost me a cent.

My dealer just replaced the turbo instead of even trying the cleaning. The diesel tech told me the cleaning seldom works for long and they end up having to replace the turbo. I have 92K on the clock so they could have just cleaned and then by the time the code came up again I would be out of warranty.

Sorry; for the late response I was camping with the grand kids since Friday and just got back. Boy do they keep you busy.
I used my own kit I bought the Smarty S67 in 09, the only model offered at that time. I than purchased 5" Turbo back exhaust system from MBRP. I used a 5.9L Long Bed system for my 08, 6.7L Mega cab fits perfectly. I than purchased block off plates to close off the opening for the cross over tube in front of the engine from the EGR cooler system, leaving the cooler on the truck. The reason I left it on was to help with the engine temperature in the winter months the truck will warm up faster and stay warmer with the cooler left on.
When I did my deletes I decided right than that I would be my own warranty station. My reasoning was that the engine should not have any mechanical issue as long as I did not abuse the power to the engine. My only warranty issues in the first 21K miles was all emission rated and since then the tuck has run perfect with no cells or check engine lights.
