Well I guess I'm different. I love my cummins to death, however, for non-bombing, general use, all 3 are decent engines. I have driven all 3 and unless your getting stupid with them all pull pretty well. Granted for durability and bottom end strength, you cant beat the cummins, its tried and proven reliability (and cheaper too!) Personally, I would like to see what Toyota could come up with. Hey what would a little more challange posted hurt? I know that the smaller Toyotas are danged reliable and can take one heck of a beating. After doing some research and seeing thier commercials, if I was going to buy a half ton, I WOULD consider a new Tundra. I mean come on, 401ft lbs of torque and a 6 spd auto! They are ahead of the big 3 in this department. Not to mention thier warranty is better than the big 3 too! Im not gonna say that if Toyota came out with a 3/4 ton that im gonna run right out and trade in my cummins, but it would be interesting to see what they could add to the competition.

Toyota has 401 but look at the RPM's you have to turn to get it.
401 at 3600rpm's
381hp at 5600rpm's
EDIT: Nevermind, I jumped the gun and thought you were comparing Gas to Diesel. DURRRR!

I dont know, Im kind of excited to see what Toyota comes out with. Personally, Im not a big fan of Japanese vehicles, but one has to admit, Toyota is coming up...and quickly. Unlike Ford, Toyota has an excellent reputation when it comes to standing behind their vehicles and customer service. Just my 0.02

I stopped and looked at a Tundra last weekend. Sorry, but for the price I can get a nice 3/4 ton Dodge with a Cummins, plus they look awful tacky in my opinion.

Well, I spent two hours test driving the new Ford yesterday and can attest that whether the turbos are parallel or sequential....they still suck. You put your foot down and wait...and wait....and bang the power hits in time for the spongy horrible upshift. Seriously, it was so bad we pulled out the stop watch - 3.5 seconds between hitting the throttle and the beginning of the power surge. Horrible. edited by admin near totalled it pulling out in traffic.
Loved the truck, interior, exterior, ride, roominess....HATE the engine. Godawfulfreakinterrible. Shame, because other than that it is a nice truck.
