Tire pressure sensors?

Just picked up my new work truck - '10 ctd quad cab w/ 16 miles on her. Love the tranny and it seems to really have gone on a diet compared to my 06 mega. Just curious about the tire pressure system setup. Can somebody school me on how this system reads the air pressure? Just curious... TIA!

Edit - wrong section but the 08 and 09s like have the monitoring system as well?

i do believe there is a sensor on the valve stem inside the rim,use caution if you change your own tires, you can brake it.

08 and up get the big brother tire treatment.

The sensors operate on centrifugal force and relay the pressure that is in each tire. If it falls below a set point the idiot light comes on.

On the '10's and up I believe yall system is a lil more fancy. You can get an actual pressure reading for each tire. On the 08 and 09 its just a light, then you gotta figure out which tire is pitching the hissy fit.

The system is very tempermental and as you can tell, Im not real fond of it.

The sensors can be swapped to aftermarket rims if you where to install them. Be careful with the sensors though, they run about 60 bucks a piece.

Thanks guys. So, conceivably, the sensors could be easily (but carefully) swapped to 06 wheels? Don't ask why

Glad I have an 07 without those annoying things. I would not think there is anything with the 06 rims that would prevent a change-over.
