Your point?

I wasn't implying that was his problem.

I understand but some may not and find it confusing.I see a lot of info posted that has nothing to do with the year model or even a 3rd generation/2nd and so on in the correct forum.Lots of newbies on these suites whom don't have a clue to years or differances is the point.

i have a 2010 ram 3500 just scared me and my son to death driving over the pass to bend in snow. the accelerator went to the floor 3 different times and i couldn't get it to stop with standing on brakes. i had to thwow it in neutral finally. i was passing a semi that was slow in right lane im just beside him when the truck went out of control. cars were coming down the slope and a line behind us on the 4lane snow and ice! and i was fish tailing as im standing on the brakes , my sons screaming whats going on dad my german shepherd is in the back bed having a fit! ya know my 16 yr old was driving 5 min before and i made him pull over as it was getting slick and dark! it happened twice more before we got to our motel, once in town with ice packed roads in traffic! I CALLED THE DOGDE SERVICE HERE IN BEND OREGON THIS MORNING AND SAID THEY NEVER HEARD OF THIS PROBLEM BEFORE! IM SO MAD I CAN THOW THIS LAP TOP OUT INTO THE RESORT BELOW ME! WE ARE SCARED TO GET BACK INTO THAT TRUCK! I cant get a rental car to get around as i have a dog im on vacation 4hrs from home. we went first class for our probably last father son vacation, stayn at the hilton but cant even get my son to the mountain to snowboard. im going to sleep if i can and let the dodge guys look at it. i dont think its acceptable to let people get killed when they have known this was going to kill someone! if my son was driving i know it would have been bad! i tell my son about these kind of things everyday, how things really are in this world, and allot of these , what do you call it? corporate acceptable time bombs with pretty paint! are out there son, so we better not let my daughter drive the truck to go camping with her friends pulling a 5th wheel! this is crazy and i dont know what to do!

Look at obvious. FLOOR MAT,back of fuel pedal, carpet etc. Check oil level. Make sure not overfill, check for any fuel leaks. Is the truck stock? No performance programs downloaded? Don't stand on the brakes without throwing it in neutral. Really check that fuel pedal and any mats.

runaway 2010 dodge 3500 mystery

what would the oil level have to do with an accelerator going and sticking to the floor? i just had the serviced before my trip. the dodge people couldn't find anything wrong and said they never had this problem before. they did say the computer indicated a high rpm followed by full brakes and over speed light two different times. it hasn't done it since they looked at it? anymore ideas guy's?

Hound Dog, your check oil level response is interesting. how could that affect the accelerator? and this happened only when i applied some power but not my intention to floor it and stay there!

Diesels can stuck oil or fuel and run wide open. If fuel filling crankcase or oil level way to high it is possable to get a 'runaway'. Probably a lot more likely with a mechanically injected diesel. BUT you never know. 95% of the runaways I've been involved in over 25/30 years was floor mat/gas pedal or was thought to have been. Few times a year every year got that phone call or a vehicle brought in with 'runaway' complaint. Gas and diesels.
