I agree, what an experience and who can think clearly in a situation like that!! I have always driven Manual Transmissions and my foot would have been on that clutch like Crazy!!! I am so glad everything is OK.. I honestly believe with all these "SESNORS" and Drive by Wire junk, the computer has WAY too much control over the truck....

Even with all the sensors and computers in our vehicles nowadays, the driver still has the option of manually putting the engine in neutral and manually applying the emergency brake, which is still the same as it always has been... no programming or computers involved in its operation. To be fair, we all know that it's easier to be logical and rational about a situation such as this when we're sitting at our keyboards than when it's actually happening. I hope the cause of this experience was found and eliminated.

DTR's 'Go to Guy'
If you leave the gear selector in anything but park ( i.e. drive or neutral ) the steering wont lock. You will lose power steering , but you shouldn't need to turn a huge amount to guide it off to the side.

Troll, 2 weeks and NO verification. Also only his 2nd post. Probably the same person that described a similar situation on FTE. (I know this is only my first post over here, but I'm keeping my options open on my aging Duramax.) Just want the honest info without all the BS. Regards to everyone, and I have enjoyed lurking at this site.

Two dealerships could not find any problems or could not duplicate what had happened. I am a little frustrated. I thought to my self maybe the floor mat was the problem. So I looked at the placement/design of the throttle pedal. There is no way the that the floor mat could of done this. I have been keeping a close eye on my trucks performance. I did notice the other day when I took my daughter clothes shopping for back to school, when we started to pull out of target parking lot, the red lightening bolt light came on and stayed on. I then stepped on the gas and it went away. This was about a week ago. Has not done since then, but I do not really drive my truck that much. I have a little over 2000 miles on her now. I still get the very low idle and vibration in the mirrors when I put her in reverse. The dealer told me that it will go away once the truck/computer/engine/tranmission learns my driving habits. It sounds a little B.S. to me. (BTW, love this site, lots of great people here trying to help each other out. But all those 6.7 posts are making me sick. I will say one thing, that 6.7 got some power and that auto 6 speed just runs through the gears. When it is not in the shop.)

I cut a slit in my rubber floor mat and use the hook attached to the floor that is there to keep the factory carpeted mats from moving. Works great.....
