Sitting in Traffic

Hey all, I was driving from San Diego to Ventura and got stuck in a lot of traffic on I-5. I notice that when I get stuck doing a lot of idling, I end up getting a CEL (P2A00 this time) after getting to my destination and letting the truck sit for a couple of hours. I'll start her up, drive around a little to get to the freeway, and the the CEL pops. I think this is normal because it happened to me a lot when I first bought the truck. I clear it with an OBDII scanner and it goes away for a couple of thousand miles before I get stuck in the same situation. Any thoughts on preventing this? I heard something about enabling high idle, but that may not apply here. Thanks.

I don't do traffic that much, but if I get stopped for road work or anything else that will take time, I shut down or idle up if I want the AC. I also gear down and keep my revs up in slow traffic. No CEL's here in 9,700 miles.

I think I would get real frustrated with all of the emission junk the 6.7 has.

Yep, they take some thinking, not for everyone.

The dealer gave me a 6.7 to drive when I was getting a service done and I didn't like it. Although, I LOVED the exhaust brake! It did not have the power I would have expected, but it was nice and quiet. I do have a Bully Dog on mine so the comparison is not fair, but I don't think I could deal with all of the emission woes the 6.7 has experienced.

Yeah, it is frustrating. My truck is on a lease and I have it for 5 years. Historically, I've kept all my vehicles above the 10 year mark and I would still be driving around my 1998 gas engine if it wasn't for my sister taking it from me and leaving a blank check to get myself a new one. I'm afraid to do the delete of anything since there's a very slight chance I might get the next version of this truck at the end of my lease. But, I guess I'll keep this one as stock as possible. Too bad California will be smogging these in 2010, otherwise, I would delete with pleasure. -WB
