seized hub- HELP!
2007 6.7 4x4, the wheel hub is ON THERE! both sides! tried the power steering trick (socket on the nut, extensions on the frame, turn the wheel and press out the hub) no go. tried beatin the snot out of it, won't budge. tried a cold chisel between the hub and the knuckle, nothin! oh and plenty of pb blaster days before all this! I need new u-joints and one new hub. going to install spyntec free spin hubs to eliminating having to change out the joints just about every year & a half. but I first need to get these stupid hubs off... HELP!

heat with torch was tried, and a shot of PB as soon as it was hot... Well it took ALL day, but their off! I don't know if it was the constant applying of PBblaster or when I was finally out of ideas and tools! I put the socket on the hub nuts and smash-whacked the daylights out of it, I think this jarred the rust loose a bit and I was able to revisit the press-it-out-with-the -power-steering-trick and that worked! the hub only worked out about a 32nd when I smashed it from behind, but that was enough!
of course this was after trying to go at it with a cutoff wheel, a sawsall, many prayers and a trip to oreillys for a broken ABS sensor!
tomorrow, the u-joints!
On a side note ftltmp, I think we would be good friends! Its rare to find true Christian car guys!

I am glad you got your hub off, I was sweating mine after reading some of the trouble some have had getting theirs off. I even watched a video where a fire dept. used the jaws of life to get one off.. I guess I was the lucky one I did not have any trouble at all getting mine off. Good luck with your universals, when I did mine, I had a retaining clip come off and it allowed the cap to start to come out, luckily i was close to the house.
