HELP!! 06 Seized on I-95 near FL/GA Border

Guys, My old man just called me, truck seized in Florida, with a 30ft gooseneck and 3 horses in the trailer. We're working on finding someone to finish the run, but I need a good diesel shop around Jacksonville that ain't gonna screw us. Apparently the thing ran out of oil... mus have happened in a hurry, because it hasn't been leaking, at least it wasn't before the trip. He can't turn the engine over with the starter or by hand, and the trouble codes read a #6 cylinder misfire, and low oil pressure.

I'm betting he burned up the #6 cylinder due to a crappy injector, but IDK yet.

So does anyone know a good shop around there? We're gonna have to tow this thing out of a weigh station to a shop. I'm at college in class, so it might be a while before I can talk to him again. If anybody can help, please, give my old man a call, I'd really appreciate it. His name is Doug McCall, and his phone number is 716-983-2687. Like I said, he's at the weigh station on Northbound I-95 right before the GA border.

Thanks for the help guys.

I've got a good diesel guy here in SC... Charleston. Sorry I'm not closer. If I was not working nights, I'd try to help out.

If he has lost an engine, IMHO you'd be better served getting it back home before you dive into it.

Alright guys, thanks for the help. I'd bring it back home, but to start with I want to find out whats exactly wrong with it.

He had it towed to Diesel Power House, just north of Jacksonville. I'm supposed to hear from them this morning to let me know when they can check it out. If its indeed seized I'll have to drive down there with the deckover and haul it back. Its not that I don't trust the guys down there, I just trust the guys I've worked with before more.

You also don't want somebody stranded in a motel for days. If you've got to pick them up you might as well bring the truck back at the same time. It's also harder to work out any warranty issues with an out-of-town company.

Well the truck has 250K miles, well past warranty. My old man has to stay with the horses, so even though another company is doing the driving, he'll load and unload the horses with them. They have the trailer and are bringing it back to our place.

Diesel Power House just called me, they're gonna look at it today, so I should know whats exactly wrong by this afternoon.

I was referring to any work you might have done to the truck relative to this issue.

Oh oh oh... Alright, sorry, went over my head. Honestly, I haven't done anything to the truck besides put on the lift pump. We try and keep hauling trucks stock for reliability, and in case it breaks down out of town someone else knows how to fix it. Neither my old man or my uncle know how to fix diesels, so if they're hauling and something happens, it goes to a shop to get fixed unless they are close enough for me to drive to them.

Roger that, and probably a smart move as well. To my knowledge, hauling freight of any kind only pays if you show. Being on time might make a difference too.

Yeah, Yeah, Yeah... We got another company we deal with to finish the run and talked to all the customers to let them know we'll be a day late. Horse people are pretty understanding, mostly because they're aren't that many guys qualified to move them, you gotta have a lot of horse experience to get the stubborn ones on the trailer, haha.

Yeah... Motor is indeed seized due to an oil leak somewhere. I didn't bother having the shop find the leak once they found it was seized. Looking for a used engine now, may have to drive down there with a deckover and haul it back to somebody up here who I know.

shoot me a PM if you need a place to store it near Jax Fla.

my son in law works a concrete yard in that area.

he may help, he is very heavy duty, but he does not have a goose neck (that i know of)
