regeneration?

Back when it was still cold I thought my truck was regenerating alot. It would do it about every 1 1/2-2 weeks. I was not suprised as it was pretty cold and the truck was not always up to operating temps. It has since warmed up and now regens at least once a week. I have had it regen on Saturday, take a 200 mile drive on Wed and then need to regen again on Friday. I thought this was excessive until this week when It regened on Thursday night and then needed to regen again Sunday morning. No long idle times and has been up to temp with some longer driving time. The dealer wont even look at it, the only thing I get is them telling me to give it some time to even out as I only have 3800 miles on it. I am getting pretty discouraged with it at this point and looking to see if this is normal or not.

Thanks

The most recent flashes have made it so that our trucks regenerate more frequently but for shorter time periods. Based on the numbers you've given, I'd say that there is nothing to be overly concerned about with your rig. There are many factors that go into determining when regeneration occurs, including outdoor temperatures, idling time and city vs highway driving. Much of this is calculated based on the amount of time that is spent at certain RPM ranges. I find that if I use the tow/haul mode while driving in the city then less regens will occur as this keeps the RPM's up (and raises the EGT's).

Your situation sounds typical.

How do you spell relief.....
