whats urea?

Ok....Not sure about this but today at the dealer he told me that about every 6000 to 10000 miles the Urea tank needs to be filled on the new trucks. He said its an emissions thing. What is that anyhow..

Not sure of the spelling but thats how he pronounced it.

Urea article here

With the possible exception of the newer C&C trucks to be released, the 6.7 does not use urea for a selective reduction catalyst. If you want that youll have to buy a Ford or a Chevy.

Urea is basically injected into the exhaust flow similar to the regens on the 6.7's to catalyze the DPF into a regen. Its expensive, and must be replenished rather often on the systems that require it.

Get your dealer to join DTR and point him to the 6.7 forums. Maybe he will learn a thing or two.

C&C is Cab & Chassis. They have a different powertrain setup than the standard pickups, a different tranny and exhaust system.

Id say he didn't have his facts straight. It aggravates me to no end to walk into a dealership and some guy tries to sell me something they know nothing about. If your gonna sell something at least learn what it is.

I went to the dealer today and verified what you said....your right. No urea for these trucks. The salesman should learn about it.

I'm surprised he didn't try to sell you a Cummings diesel.
