driving the other day and the engine stalled. came back about 3 or 4 seconds later then stalled again for a few seconds and came right back. made it home and checked for codes but nothing was showing up. drove it the next day with no problems. wife drove it again today with no problems. just checked for codes and got the lift pump P0628 code. going to the dealership tomorrow. checked the wires near the ac compressor but looked okay (no frays). warranty should cover it barely, it's got 99728 miles on it. will keep you guys updated. BTW thanks to all that post on this site, it does make a difference.

was told today that the lift pump is under the powertrain warranty and that it wasn't covered by the cummins emissions warranty. anyone else got any ideas.

was yours under the powertrain 7 year/70k mile or the 5yr/100k cummins emissions?

installed a stock (on the filter housing, not in-tank) replacement until i can decide which aftermarket one i want to go with. took less that an hour from start to cleaning the tools off. one question though, i had a code p0628 for the lift pump. i also showed a code p0088. could the lift pump going bad cause the p0088 code to be thrown by the injector pump? i cleared the codes with a scantool and we'll see if it comes back. the old pump still runs but just barely so it was definately DRT (Dead Right There). BTW, because my truck was out of warranty for the lift pump, the in-tank and retrofit kit was going to be about $1100. one i got was less than $200 including shipping. if it last 100k miles like the old one i can replace it several times before i get close to $1100. wish chrysler would give me the choice as to which pump i would like to have installed. Thanks to all that contribute to this board, it saved me a lot of money and time.

Well, my lift pump finally died today at 53K miles, but it is six years old. Had some strange hesitations a couple of times yesterday, and today just quit. With the key on I don't hear the pump run, but I don't have any codes. Is that possible?

New pump from Genos on the way.

my lift pump was covered under the cummins waranty! 2003ram it maybe possible to have a lift pump go bad and not throw any codes. no 100% sure though.

2003ram did you try the key on off trick? if so try scanning it with a scan tool. maybe that will tell you something.
