Power and TQ 3500 and C & C, other differances ...
Ok Im lost ......
If I buy lets say a SLT pick up. 2500 or 3500 I get 350HP
but If I buy the C & C 3500 I only get 305 HP
I don't remember the TQ values but there different too.
I also can't figure out the transmissions options If Im reading corectly transmissions are also different between the 2.
Can someone explain all of this? Does Dodge have a web site listing the options for both. with out having to search and referance 100 of pages.
So does the C & C have a different frame? If they are the same frame other the stripping off of the bed what would be different. I gues the more I look the more I get confused and well the sales guys dont' know Jack, one guy told me the 5.9 is still avaiable for the next few years....
Thanks for the help....

Frames: The C&C and "Regular Trucks" have different frames....
Ratings: The torque rating on a C&C is 610 lb-ft. On the "Regular Trucks" it will be 650 lb-ft(auto) and 610 lb-ft(manual). Horsepower ratings are 305 for the C&C and 350 for "Regular Trucks". The difference has been theorized as a way to ensure that joe blow landscape hand doesn't blow up a perfectly good work vehicle and perhaps ensure a longer life.
Auto Transmissions: The C&C has an Aisin(AS68RC) 6spd automatic transmission... the "Regular Trucks" have an optional 6spd auto labeled as a 68RFE. They are different transmissions. They will share the same G56 manual transmission.
5.9L: Except for what's left over in dealer stock and unless something unforeseen happens, the 5.9L will no longer be available as a new purchase in a Dodge Ram 2500 or 3500 and has never been available in the new C&C.... they are not 2007 emissions compliant.

Cool thanks for the brake down on the changes.... Seems like the C&C is a new line of trucks from dodge, I was under the impression they were just making a C&C IE truck less the bed, but with the frame, transmissions, tank, HP and TQ changes it's a completly different truck..... I think dodge really messed up on the info to the public, I wasn't really thinking this as a different and new truck, which in reality it is, I can't wait for a higher GCVW truck though then maybe I might buy one.

I too am confused in a lot of issues . Mostly in making up my own mind . I haven’t owned a pickup in 20 + years, always had flatbeds. Was seriously looking at the 3500 quad cab dually. But seeing the difference in MSRP price between the pickup class and the cab & chassis, well back to the drawing board.
Just a wild thought here. Wonder if a guy bought the C&C if he could talk his local friendly Dodge dealer into upping the horsepower to 350 like the pickup ? It just has to be in the programming!

Nope, that won't happen. Dodge and Cummins would see to it that the electronics side of that idea won't work

I have faith that the aftermarket will step up and squeeze a little more juice out of the new engine.
Another nice feature on the C&C is the 52 gal fuel tank and I believe an optional extra 22 gal tank.

One thing about the 305hp and the 350hp. I would think the 305 with the AISIN would smoke the 350hp off the line since that tranny can handle the tourqe and the new tranny may protect itself like the 48re and blow by all the usable tourqe if you stomp on it. SO numbers in 1/4 mile and 0-60 comparisms would be nice
