Injector Pump Differances

Okay I'm gonna break down and replace my Injector Pump. Can somebody explain the differance between the standard pump and the high output pump. This money comes dear, can't afford the wrong thing. I'm tired of fightin it. Lack of power and horrible fuel mileage bites when these are supposed to be the strongest pickups on the road

If you'd tell your son to stay out of the gas it might help a little. Just messin with ya. I'd stick with the SO pump to be honest. Not to much of a difference between the two.

I don't think he can, he's addicted. He might have one of the fastest cars in town when it's in one piece, but those times are few and far between. When his is down he can't stay out a mine. He finally got it on the road after months of being down to install that **** roll cage and drag seat, finally gets it back on the road then pulls it into the garage and yanks the engine. But times comin near he'll be off to school, then which one of you nice folks is gonna fix my truck.

The HO pump doesn't work on a SO.

I think I mis represented what I'm asking about. There is a race or higher fuel flow pump available as well as the stock pump. Sorry

I thought they were interchangeable? Why won't the -028 pump work in a -027 application? ECM issues? FICM incompatible?

Inquiring minds want to know.

I guess it's time to learn how to do it yourself. If you were closer I'd offer but your a little off the beaten path for me.

Programming differences.

I have seen it tried before. A HO pump on an ETC. It did not start. Just spit and sputter and blew white smoke.

The SO pump is basically a Hot Rod pump.

The SO pump puts out 640 cc's of fuel at xxxx RPM's (can't remenber how many rpm's)

The HO pump puts out 600 cc's of fuel at xxxx RPM's (can't remenber how many rpm's)

Big Blue, just think of the satisfaction you would get helpin out a nice guy like me. I can usually fumble my way through most of this stuff but I was just gettin use to being the tool fetcher. It's alot cleaner and more comfy on the topside than the bottom side.

Ain't that the truth. Seriously though, if you weren't so far away, I'd help but Illinois is a little far away.

This whole pumps got me nervous because it's been smokin alot more than usuall here the last couple of weeks. I'm assuming that means that the injection timing is gettin worse. I'm takin a road trip to southeastern Oklahoma next week to pickup a trailer. Does anybody know of a good shop between Illinois and Oklahoma down I44 to have this pump changed out. Don't mind if it's off the path some, were makin a vacation out of it anyway.

99 Cummins, do my own work, but here's a few in the St Louis area:

Right off the interstate, down the road from Six Flags St Louis.
McClain-Summers Midwest Diesel (Think the name changed)
15 Truitt Dr # B
Eureka, MO 63025-1920
Phone: (636) 938-1118

Little more out of the way
