Question P0087 code??

Hi, my CEL came on today while going up a long, kind of steep hill but no load. I stopped off at the store at the top and it sounded louder at a idle then normal. In fact it sounded like some the older trucks around the neighborhood. I turned it off did some shopping, came out and it started up just fine like normal. It sounded just fine as well but the CEL was still on. Went home and did the Key trick i learned from this site and got a P0087 code. I searched for it and could not find any thing to speak of.

Does anyone know what the P0087 code means? Maybe I am missing something. I just want to know before I take it to the dealer, hopefully soon.

Thanks for your help in advance

Nevermind, I found a list on the internet. It should be "P0087 Fuel Rail/System Pressure - Too Low". This is interesting.

I wounder what caused it? Do any of you have any ideas, I am still kind of new to this truck.

Thanks

Dave

Could be several things.....a stuck fuel control actuator, a poor connection at the rail pressure sensor, a bad rail pressure sensor......Heck...a flash upgrade may even take care of it!

Thanks vzdude, I appreciate it. Off to the dealer it goes. This will be the first time for a problem.

Make sure to ask them to check for flash updates. There have been a TON of them for the 6.7 . It could save you a trip later, and heck....they get paid to do it anyhow! I kived doing flash updates when I was a tech. Once I was hooked up , I did all that applied to the truck. It was good for me, as well as being good customer service in my opinion. Never had anyone complain about it at least!

OBDII codes all follow the same format. Government mandated.
