While I was plowing yesterday a message came up on the overhead monitor that said "exhaust filter full power reduced see dealer" I took it into the dealer and they are essentially going to have to replace the entire exhaust system including new DPF, oxidation cat, cat, sensors, etc... all totalling 8200.00. Luckily for me I only have 89000 miles on the truck and it will be covered under warranty. Since I have been planning to get rid of all of that, is there a market for a used dpf, or any of the other parts so I can then use that money to buy the components needed to delete it all?

 

I thought the DPF was covered under warranty for only 50k miles, unless in Calif. where it's 100k.

 

well the dealer here is under the impression that it is 100k. they are fixing it at no cost to me so I am not going to say anything!

 

Let me know what you want for the DPF I have a fellow here in Cal looking or one used and plugged.

 

All of those items could be marketable. Most people, with emissions testing, would pay a good penny for that just to appear stock.

I recommend selling it and then selling the good parts as well once the dealer replaces. Then you would have a couple grand in your pocket to easily do the full deletes.

 

I don't think I'd agree with that. Sell your old stuff and keep you new working equipment in case you need it to pass the federal regulations at some point or sell your truck!!! But, by all means delete it and enjoy.

Id keep the good ones, you never know when you will need them. I didnt intend on putting it back on my 08, and wasnt going to. Then guess what...

I forgot, since I live in a country without emissions I do not need that stuff. If you require emission's then these guys are right KEEP IT. Also would help you out in case of a warranty issue

 

I had the same thing happen to me the other day plowing, got the DPF 80% full, regeneration needed and then the odometer started flashing DPF full. Long story short the problem was got to close to snow bank and filled the exhaust pipe with snow and all the back pressure caused all the chimes and messages. Blew it all out on the open highway real quick. I have 40k on my truck with no problems so far this was the first, but my own fault. Lesson learned that day.

 

I got the 80% full warning once while plowing. Taking it out on the highway and running the truck at normal speeds caused the warning to drop to 70% and then to disappear totally within 6 miles of driving.

 

Well I just dropped the truck off at the dealer, they are replacing it all. I drove over 400 miles and the overhead still read exhaust filter full. The truck will run much better soon, friday I ordered a 5"tbe, smarty jr, and egr/cooler delete kit. This weekend I will be ripping all of the troublemaking components off and be selling them. I do not have emissions where I live so no need to keep them.

 

I am interested in the new DPF. Mine is plugged and I need it. Mine is not covered under warrantee because they said my oil was too full and caused the PVC system to get plugged and thus causing the DPF...
