Out pulled a 5.9 today!

My brother has a 06' 2500, 4x4, 6 spd, stock. He decided it was time to see who's truck was stronger. I won! He has two Bobcats and trailers, we hooked up and started from a dead stop to 50 MPH, I beat him by 2 truck lengths. Then we cruised up the road to spot that has a 6% grade for 2.5 miles (4 lane freeway), we got side-by-side at 50 MPH and stood on it with the same load as before, I took him by about 5 truck lengths by the time I got to the top at 80 MPH and backed off. He said I won because I'm more agressive with the clutch, so we traded trucks and tryed the 0 to 50 again, needless to say he beat me, and believe me when I say I pushed his truck! The 6.7 can hold it's own - we'll have to see if it'll last as long as the 5.9 though! hope so.

Displacement is the only way to only way to go. You didn't say if the new 6.7 was a manual or auto. If you did I missed it.

My truck has 3.73's and little bros has 4.11's, but he is running a alot taller tire than I am - I think they even out. It seems to me that the G56 in my truck is lower geared than his NV5600 or at least it felt that way.

Thanks for the report.

Can't wait to see how a stock 5.9 w/48RE (if there is still such a thing out there ) performs against the 6.7 w/68RFE under similar circumstances. I'm guessing there would even be more of a difference.

I've driven the new 6.7L and it's an awsome truck. With the 3.23 first gear it jumps off the line and keeps pulling strong past 80. WIth the 3.73 it's turning less than 2K at 80 MPH.

You're right his truck is an early 05' - He bought it new in 06' for a great price. Sorry, my bad.

My truck as it sets - 3500, 4x4, 3.73's, G56 runs about 2600 RPM at 80 MPH. Kind of to low geared for me.
