Pulled out a semi today
As stated above, I was on my way home from lowes this morning and we had been getting the snow pretty good here in the NW. Anyhow as I was passing the corner store I noticed a semi jackknifed and stuck in the snow. As I pulled up to offer some help, there was a guy with a F150 hooking up to try and pull it out. Needless to say he failed so I said I would give it a try. Low and behold after about 2 or 3 good tugs out come the semi. man, I wish I had a video camera for that one. There was a good crowed formed up and they were all standing there with their mouths open in disbelief. It was cool and I felt pretty good about it. The truck driver even said he couldn't believe it. So thats my excitement for the day.... Just thought I would share it with you guys/gals.....

Sounds like fun, gutsy move with a single disc clutch. I bet it was groaning a little!
I was involved in one of those once too. Pulled a semi off the edge of a ditch where he'd tried to turn around on too narrow a road and got the landing gear of the trailer stuck on the road. His differential lock wouldn't engage, so he was sitting there spinning the outer side. 1st & 4LO in a 2002 6spd that had a DD clutch in it at the time, took a little persuasion but the semi rolled out behind it. It's a great feeling not only to do that with your truck, but to be helping somebody out at the same time. Imagine the towing bill otherwise.

yeah pulling a semi is a great feeling. I remember when I got to pull a fully loaded one 77,280# I have the pink weight slip still. It was awesome when the driver told me I'd never pull him over the hill and into town he was too heavy. LOL I said well lets try anyways!!! needless to say the driver was blowing his horn as I pulled him over the hill covering him with smoke all the way to the cenex. he was laughing sooooooo hard...HAHAHAHAHA
Ps. I had it in drive and 4low and it still wanted to shift into 3rd gear.

I pulled one out of soft ground that weighed in about 37,000, he had offloaded about half his load and was stuck. His drivers were buried to within about 2 inches of the rim. He had buried It was cool. The driver said he was going to look at a Dodge with a Cummins after seeing what mine did. Yeah, 4x4 low and 1st gear, it really didn't strain much either. The funniest part was when my son and another guy yelled at me to stop as the tow strap stretched about 6 feet.

Well i havent pulled anyone out with my dodge and not gotten stuck, but an old boss of mine pushed loaded semi out of a wheat field with a 01 Furd 350. That truck was a hoss and actually made my decision about my first diesel. Yeah it was a Furd but man that thing would handle the mud alot better than my dodge, but the three trannys in 88000 miles didnt really keep my faith with them.

Pulled out a friends Winnabago motorhome that was stuck in the mud in the desert. It was probably a 20 foot pull to get him back on the road.
We were out dirtbiking and it rained buckets. It was dry when he got there.

so far this winter i have pulled out 3 people, the worst was a chevy van that went straight while the road curved. they went a good 30 ft before coming to a stop. luckily i had my plow on so i was able to clear the 2+ ft of snow so i could get some traction to pull them out.
the next worse one was a crew cab chevy that found a soft spot in a field. each time i would stop while pulling him out he would stop, after about 20 minutes of pulling at different angles and then draggin him thru the brush sideways i got him out.
