My 07.5 got a new turbo at 25K miles and a reflash. The truck now has 56K miles with zero issues since. Knock on wood.

with the EGR and DPF the soot that gets trapped in the vanes of the VGT is disgusting. top three warranty repairs i have been doing on EPA 07 ISB, ISC, ISL are turbos, EGR valves, and ECM calibrations.

from what i have been reading on here deleting egr and dpf sure helps the turbo out. among other things

Running the exhaust brake all the time...except when roads are really slick....helps with the soot build up too.

According to a tech in Texas I know he also warns to really watch over full crankcases since if it gets over full it can affect the way the turbo oil return line drains and has the potential to cause turbo sticking.

I want to do the EGR and DPF delete but am wary of the warranty issues as well as still having to pay for Christmas!!!!!

I agree using exhaust brake helps turbo sliding nozzle from sticking. Also keep the idling time down on your truck. If you need to idle your truck for extended time enable the idle up feature. Have your PCM updated it has new features to help prevent excessive soot buildup.

New turbo at 900 miles. Nothing to do with the emissions, just a bad batch of turbos is what I was told.

Not a nock on you but of corse if that was comming from dodge, would the govt ever tell you one of their programs that doesn't help would cause issues.

I have changed a few turbo's but the older style without a cleaning plug . I would have to drill and then tap hole to do cleaning of turbo and then update PCM. If turbo set another P2262 code then the turbo was replaced. I have not replaced a turbo with the factory cleaning plug installed. Only the 2009 and up have factory cleaning plug installed.

26,000 miles and no turbo problems yet. I run the EB at all times and try to keep my rpms up during city driving.

I only have 6,500 miles on my 07 and tow 90% of the time. I had 1 CEL early on when I was driving it around and short trips (P2262). They cleaned the EGR and I have not had a problem since. Now I have the deletes so the stock 07 turbo will hopefully last. I run always with the EB on and in TH mode.

I had a gremlin that caused my turbo to spool shut at idle and stay in the e-brake mode for a good long time under load...it also would surge as though the actuator was getting a command that was not supposed to happen.
The truck had all the smog stuff removed long before this issue occurred. I got another turbo and it worked fine for a little while. A little while for me was about 8000 miles as I was logging 8-10K miles a month...so it lasted a whole month. Ended up getting another used turbo. All has been good for over 40K miles now. Nobody in the loop was saying or knowing why this happened. No codes related to what is normally an issue. Luckily the dealer I know was decent enough to evaluate and help me out. Still had to waste a nearly a month in down time though. I kept the original turbo and we put it on another truck just for the heck of it...and it works just fine so I have a spare now. I wanted to eliminate or keep the turbo.
Had the actuator looked at by a Holset dealer...normal. Strange how things can go sideways and nobody knows why.

I do not attribute this to the design or the smog stuff.

I fully expected the original turbo to be a dud on my buddy's truck and was surprised that it worked normally. Nice to have a spare on the shelf.

The truck had its warranty denied when I imported into Canada.

all the raw fuel being dumped through the turbo to create heat in the DPF can't be helping the turbo either.
