Lost #6 piston fixed now overheating?

We lost #6 Piston so I had the head redone and replaced the piston and the injector. Truck was also overheating when this all happened. Now the truck starts getting hot like the water is not flowing thru the block? Do you think the water pump went bad also?

We looked at the block when the piston was out and it did not look cracked.

Also we are not getting and continues bubbles in the radiator so I really am ruling out a cracked block.

Any suggestions?

Thanks Dennis

Sounds to me like the overheating is what caused the piston #6 failure. I'd replace the water pump asap and see what it does.

sounds like your not getting water to flow somewhere...Start it cold...with the radiator cap off....watch the water as it heats up....you should see it start to flow when it reaches operating temp. Im sure you don't have exhaust leaking into the radiator fluid and no oil leaing into the water...Right?

did you pull the high point threaded plug while adding coolant?

If not, you probably have one heck of an air lock in the system, causing your described problems.

And yes, no heat at the vents is indicative of an air lock in the system.

Good luck

This is the number one thing for you to do. You don't have to take it all the way out, but loose engough to let any air escape and let some coolant flow/leak past the threads and this should be good at that point. As posted earlier, no heat in the heater and overheat in the motor means you don't have flow...

I could not find the high point one time on a motor with a similar situation so I had to pop off the radiator cap while hot and that sure did blow the air out....

I agree pull the plug until you get a flow of coolant out. You have air pocket int the head, run engine with cap off until t stat open up. then top off your coolant.
