K&N air flter
Agree with that statement. That is right about what I see. Sometimes a little higher and sometimes a little lower. I have also ran K&N's and still do on my gasser's. I have a drop in K&N filter for my truck sitting on my toolbox. Would I use it again. Noop!!!!! I would use the stock filter any day before I used that filter again. Do what you like but you will have dirt in the intake tube. It's just a matter of time. Oil it to much and you will have oil on your turbo impeller.
Talked to a friend of mine that used to travel the country selling K&N filters at car shows and moter home shows. He told me that a few years ago there was a change in command at K&N, and they made the mistake of using lesser quality materials to make there filters in an effort to save money. Big mistake. As a result they are having the problems you all are talking about. most of the engineers from K&N now work for AFE.
You need to go to the auto parts store and buy a filter cleaning kit. It comes with a cleaning solution that you spray on it and hose off. Then you have to let it dry. Some people use a shop vac to speed up the drying prosess.DO NOT USE COMPRESSED AIR. It will damage the filter Then you just re- oil it with the oil provided in the kit. Just be careful not to use to much oil. I don't use the gauge. Ijust clean it every 3000 to 4000 miles.
177,000+ on my K&N. Neve seen any oil in the hose between the air box and the Turbo. Its just not red like it use to be. Engine does not use any oil and sits on the full mark between 5000 mile oil changes.
