Just installed my snow performance stage 3 water/methanol injection kit and it is a real pain in the @ss to take the intake elbow off with all the sensors and such for the egr. Have any of you installed it yet on your 6.7 and what mix are you runner. Right now I just put window washer fluid which I believe is like 25% methanol. I am going to try 50/50 next week when I get some good stuff.

 

i just talked to the snow rep a few weekends ago and they recommend that you run a 50/50 mix but in there shop truck they run a 60/40 and have run a 70/30.. He said 60/40 is fine but not what they recommend..

I am really thinking about trying this kit also, please let us know how it works and what you think... Also how much it brings your EGT's down..

I havent seen them hit over 1400 before they would almost get up to 1700 pulling or rodding the hell out of it. I really cant tell a major difference right now because with my computer derated with the exhaust I only boost about 20-21 instead of over 30 so it wont inject alot because the boost isnt high enough and with just washer fluid and I also have a four wheeler in the bed. So with those three things changed. It should make a huge difference.

 

KMKDiesel-did you deleted the cats on your truck? Did you get the 412 with the Snow Performance 3 installed? and Where can I get one? Thanks...

 

What in the world are you talking about. Forgive my ignorance, but it sounds like you are injecting washer fluid in your engine. Is that right, and if so, what in Gods name for???

 

Read his 1st post, washer fluid has like 25 % methanol and the rest is water, no mixing involved.

 

What does it do? Isn't there a water separator mounted on the truck to eliminate water in the cylinders, and now you're intentionally putting it back in?

Yes it helps to keep water from getting into the fuel system. But when water/meth is injected into the air intake it helps it run cooler.

I had reservations about this due to the fact the 6.7 uses higher EGTs to burn out the soot from the DPF. If you keep it always cool, it will clog.

 

If you use the stage II system from snow performance you can arm and disarm the system whenever you like. If you have a programmer like the Edge Juice/Attitude you will know when it in regen and disarm the water/meth system.

 

Water/Methanol injection increases combustion pressure so you get more power... If you run a higher water percentage you get more cooling properties, the more methanol you run the higher horsepower you get, but you also lose some of the cooling properties. Any mixture with more than 50% methanol is just adding more heat and no more HP than a 50% mix. Also most -20 degree washer fluid is 35% methanol. SuperTech or w/e walmart sells is 35%.

 

No the 412 was stock everything but the edge juice on hot. As soon as I get the strait pipe thing fiqured out with out it derating my computer I will get it dynoed again. I expect over 500 hp with everything else. And I just got some 100% pure methonel. I mixed it in with about 2/3 bottle of washer fluid and holy crap it made a huge difference. I am still not even seeing more than 50% injection because not enough boost I will only get 20-21 with the computer derated and with the water/meth I will see 24-25.On the stage three it is pretty much the same as the stage 2 but just the controller and it has a swith to turn it off and on.

 

Any others with water meth. Since I put it on it seems my truck has a lot harder time to start. I keep it off for at least 5 minuets before shutting the truck off because of my turbo timer cool down. It cranks alittle longer and starts rough not smooth like it should. Anyone had this problem or have any ideas that I could try.
