Water Meth installed Testing Started!
Snow Stage III Water/Meth installed.
Water/Meth mixture for now is 33% using -20 Peak Windshield Cleaner.
First bit of business is to test the unit and make sure it’s working so I hit a 6% grade, ¼ mile hill near my home. After testing the system in stock mode (Edge Juice box turned off). First impression is the seat of the pants difference with the meth turned on. Not much difference in cooling at the top of the hill.
Next test is with the Edge turned on #1,2 and 3 program. Test results are the same. A seat of the pants difference with the meth turned on with progressively faster speed at the end of the 1/4mile but not much obvious cooling.
Water/Meth definitely has a noticeable HP boost but with 33% Meth mixture and only a ¼ mile stomp on the gas I don’t see much cooling difference if any at all. Not sure if the short period of time is not enough to allow it to cool enough. What I can say is that my 1/4mile MPH is an average of 4-6MPH faster with the Meth on so it does work.
In my eyes, the ¼ mile testing is not a real world test and I didn’t purchase the system for racing or for HP gains. My primary goal is a towing application
(12K lbs.) that allows the use of all the power that the CTD has without exceeding 1250-1300EGT’s so my next test was to hook up my Arctic Fox
26X TT, 3 quads and full of fuel, gas and run Stevens Pass Mountain road
(6% winding grades).
33% Water/Meth mixture using -20 Peak Winshield Cleaner.
Test results are 100 degrees cooler EGT’s and about 5MPH gains hauling this load up the pass. Other noticeable gains after 130 miles of towing is a 1 MPG gain in fuel economy. I started with 2 Gal. of Water/Meth and after 130 miles of towing it was used up so Snow’s claims of 5-600 miles out of their 8gal. tank is pretty accurate. Cooling is obvious under load and long grades as well as the ability to use a bit more peddle with a good 5MPH faster pull up the pass. I usually tow with my Edge Juice turned to the #3 program so I wanted to make an apples to apples test and ran everything the same aside from the water/meth turned to 75% gain.
I still can not hold the peddle to the floor without watching the EGT’s but it is obvious that I have more to play with. On another good note I had no Tranny slippage at all according to my Edge programmer.
The next test will be with a 5% water/meth mixture Memorial Day weekend on a trip into Canada. More water means more cooling. The hope is that I will get close to a 200 degree temp drop in EGT's Running the Edge in 1 or 2 programm?
So far I am pleased with the system and I think with a bit of tweaking and playing with gain adjustment, Juice box programs and size of injector jets for the system I will be able to achieve my goal. The big surprise for me is the 1 MPH gain I got from the system. Doesn’t seem like much but for the pennies needed to run water/meth it’s a very impressive and welcome gain.
Stay tuned for more real world testing on Water/Meth.

I may be doing just that. The one time I will have to run Meth in the mix is winter time so I don't get freezing problems.
Currently I have a mixture of 1gal. of 33% meth mixed with 7 gal. of distilled water which by my calculations should be about 5% or less meth in the mix. I have not tested this yet but I am chomping a the bit to do so. Unfortunately I won't be towing anything until Memorial Day weekend and I don't use the water/meth on a daily driving bases and don't have any plans to do so.
I have done some daily driving with the water/meth on but I personally don't see much need for it unless your the kind of person who wants to do power take off's at every stop light or want to race that little sports car that pulls up next to you at a light.
