I'm baccck!! Looking for an 08. Info?
To make a short story long I'm back and looking for another Cummins! I've been out of the game a bit have have owned a 2003 HO and then sold it and bought an old but NICE 93 with PODS etc... etc... Well now I'm driving a 2006 VortecMax GMC and it is a nice truck (2wd) but I bought a new boat and need 4wd for pulling it out of the boat ramp and also would like more umppp pulling my RV through the hills of VA. I am going to be getting the new truck for under invoice because right now I have a 2006 Jeep Liberty DIESEL and Chrysler is taking it back under the lemon law. My lawyer is actually doing the dealing on the truck but I'd like to know what you all think and how much you think the truck would invoice for. I can't get kbb to work for some reason. I want an 08 SLT with the 6spd MANUAL, diesel of course, cloth seats, short bed, ac, towing package, 3.73 gears, rear sliding glass, pw and doors. That is about it. Anything else I should be looking at? My boat is only 5k pounds and the RV is in the 6500 range but is like pulling a brick thru the air. I also have a 67 Chevelle I would trailer to the track. Thanks and I look forward to being back in the smoke!

You didnt mention if you wanted 2500 or 3500 or SRW or DRW. SLT includes all the features you listed. Your looking at the 30-35k price range slt cummins 4dig!!!!!!!!!!! enjoy your new 6.7. More then enough power to tote around 7000 pounds. You wont even feel it behind you.

Any special reason for the 6 sp manual? Have heard very good reports on the 6 speed auto. Just asking as some have said that tne manual is slightly down tuned over the auto on the 07.5's and up.....

Yeah a couple of reasons on the 6 spd manual. First is I've had autos in the Cummins before it I personally believe they were the weak points of the truck. The 93 had a fully built DTT and that was fine but I'd love to be able to use the truck and not worry about breaking output shafts, slipping convertors etc... If the clutch slips, I'll change it. 2nd reason being I tow a lot in the mountains and hate to have the trans going in and out of a particular gear, 3rd is I would like to be able to hold a gear going down a grade ( Maybe the new auto does this better ) but with a diesel it seems as it goes into haul butt mode if you let it coast. Last but not least is when you have a 6 speed you don't get everyone in your family asking to borrow your truck. Most people are intimidated by the 6 speed and you don't have to look like an *** telling everyone NO!
I'm going to the dealers today to see what they have on the lot.

In my test drive the engine brake was pretty impressive. 150 Hp braking. That's what sold me to buy over Chevy and although I love Ford removing the cab for engine work is a bit much.
