Is the high idle for the 6.7 is the same setup using the cruise control like the 600 series? I had someone ask me to find a high idle box for one and I thought there was high idle built in to the truck.

 

Yup, just hit the cruise button, and then set and it runs the rpm's up to 1200 I think. You can then hit accelerate and decelerate and it will go up and down respectively by 100 rpm increments.

All I had to do was have the feature turned on by the dealer.

I know some people have had problems at the dealer with this. There are 2 high idle functions. One is automatic and the other is the manual feature you want. Just have the dealer enable the manual one and you should be set.

This only works on the Auto trucks. For the manual guys, you may need another box. I think if you do a search you will find that people have done it on the manual with a jumper wire...

 

This doesn't work on '03s right? What are my options (if any) besides a cable running into the cab?

 

For the 03-04's the usual way to do it is to either buy or make a high idle box for it.
I won't ever see the truck, a buddy I go to college with asked about a high idle box for his dad's truck, I was hoping it would just be the cruise control, but I don't know if his truck is manual or auto, c/c or regular. Come to think of it all I know about it is that it's a 6.7.
