Gas into Diesel :(

A guy I mow for just recently purchased a new 08 6.7. The dealership was having it delivered to him and the driver accidently put 20 bucks worth of gas in the tank. The truck started missing and threw check engine codes. Should the guy ask the dealer to take the truck back, the dealer has already been informed of the situation and the driver confessed to them his mistake. What would you guys do?

If the tank was full, and they drained it right away, and refilled it with diesel there shouldnt be too much of a problem, but if he drove it for a few miles i would tell them to get me another truck, unless they will give him an extended warranty, I guess it would come down to how comfortable he is with it, I know I would be pretty ******, especially if I ordered the truck.

my opinion, truck was perfect before that guy put the wrong fuel in it, i would demand another perfect truck. or an extended extended warranty no questions asked, if i am paying 40-50k for something it better be perfect.

The dealership I got mine from did the same thing, but I caught it before I left the lot. I told the sales manager "I guess I'm not taking this truck" even though all the paperwork was done. In fact, they did me a favor because I got a loaded mega-cab for the same price as the stripped quad that became a gasser. I'm a sales manager at an RV dealership so he knew I had him over a barrel.

How did you know he put gas in before you left the lot?

When I started the truck, it ran poorly so I shut it off and smelled the tank.
