haven't read much about this lately, but a while back a guy from the TDR was selling pretty much the best mod in history for our trucks, a vent kit that allowed you to fill your tank up about 10x faster and with nearly 40 gallons. anyone done this on a 6.7? I can't get more than 34 gallons in my longbed. assuming I keep this truck, this mod needs done.

 

Um, as I understood it, the mod would allow you to actually use the whole 34 gallons (not overfill to 40). I have had no problem getting 33.5 gallons into mine, so I don't think a mod is necessary anymore.

Your trucks fuel tank only holds 34 gallons.

 

Thought it was 35???? Either way, i never owned a 5.9 and from my understanding you cant do this on a 6.7. I might be wrong but im just going by from what I heard on other threads. I will watch this thread though for more replies.

BTW, i fit 34.5 before before i got my aux and I only had 4 miles left to empty. I was toting at time so overhead was exactly correct per gas tank gallons also.

Still have to stand there in the COLD, dripping fuel in to get a "Full" tank. Same as it was on the 04.5. I put 36 gallons in the factory tank.
There is still alot of LSD out there, so when I fuel up I like to fill as much as possible when I find "reasonably" priced (ha ha) ULSD.

 

Fill your tank on the level 100% full (clear fuel running out of filler cap). Then move your truck to a location where it is pointed downhill. You should be able to now add an extra 2-3 gallons. I have found that depending on the grade at which your truck is parked fill up can vary by 2-3 gallons. For this reason short term fuel mileage calculations may not be accurate.
Fuel may also leak from the vent on the top of the tank if overfilled and left parked on a slope. Know this from experience.

 

They put a vent in the tank now. Look at the top of your filler neak and you will see a round hole on the left hand side. This is a vent for your tank. VW has a similar design but you have to hold a button to have the vent work.

 

Always was a vent at the filler neck. On the older trucks with the vent kit mod the connection to the fuel tank was moved from a lower part of the tank to a high spot on the back of the tank. This allowed for an additional 3-4 gallons of fuel into a location that normally held trapped air.
If you crawl under your truck and look on top of the tank, you will see a small L shaped fitting(vent). This is the location on my truck that leaked fuel when overfilled.
